Fairy Queen
Henry Purcell adapted Shakespeare’s famous play into the opera The Fairy Queen: enchanting music, tender duets interwoven with ethereal dances and atmospheric depictions of nature. All centered around one universal theme—love. In the enchanted forest ruled by King Oberon, the relationships between four rival lovers are thrown into complete disarray. Even Queen Titania falls in love with a man sporting a donkey’s head—love has never been so vividly colorful!
For this opera, I designed interactive digital scenography that responded in real time to both the performers’ movements and the musical dynamics. For the famous donkey scene in this Midsummer Night’s Dream, I implemented a live-animated shadow projection, directly controlled by the actor’s motion.
